Hub Transfer

Hub Transfer moves workspaces, Modbus gateways and lines from one hub to another hub in your organisation. Use it when:

  • A hub has failed or is being replaced. Move its work to a spare hub straight away, then move it back when the new hardware arrives.
  • You want to balance the load between hubs.

You can move individual items, or everything on a hub in one go.

Open it from the Settings menu (gear icon), under Configurations → Hub transfer.

Access required

Hub Transfer needs both engineer access and hub access. If you can't see it in the menu, ask an administrator.

Within one organisation only

You can only move items between hubs of the same organisation.

Moving items

  1. Open the Transfer tab.
  2. Under Move from, choose the hub the items are on now.
  3. Tick what you want to move, or tick Move everything on this hub:

    Item What comes with it
Workspaces Its machines and their devices and parameters (including OPC UA, S7, EtherNet/IP, LSV2 and BACnet devices), and any MQTT devices in it
Modbus gateways The Modbus devices connected through it and their parameters
Lines The line itself. A line's machines are not moved, because machines belong to workspaces
  4. Under Move to, choose the hub the items should go to.

  5. Optionally, under Also bring along, tick extras to copy from the old hub (see Optional extras).
  6. Click Review.

Nothing moves yet. The review screen shows exactly what would change.

Review screen

The review shows how many of each item will move, and any warnings. A warning with a tick box must be ticked before you can continue. If you chose Move everything, you also type the ID of the source hub, shown on the screen, to confirm.

When you're happy, click Move now.

Items that were not set on a hub

Items that have no hub assigned are never moved.

Restart both hubs afterwards

A restart is required

A hub only reads its configuration when it starts. After a move, restart both hubs (the one the items left and the one they went to). Until you do, the moved items are not collected. Enture does not restart the hubs for you. Treat the move as a short maintenance window.

Data that a hub was holding locally and had not yet sent to Enture when it was restarted may be lost. Data already in Enture is not affected: your history stays exactly as it was.

Warnings you may see

Warning What it means
Gateway and workspace on different hubs A Modbus device is connected through a gateway on one hub, but sits in a workspace on another. The device may stop working. Go back and also move the missing gateway or workspace, or tick the box if you intend this
A parameter was set to a different hub than its gateway The parameter moves to the new hub together with its gateway
Line's parameters are collected by another hub Information only. A moved line has machines whose data is collected by a hub other than the line's new hub
Target hub not seen recently Information only. The hub hasn't contacted Enture lately, so it will pick up the change once it is online and restarted
Replaces the target hub's MQTT bridge or settings You asked to bring along an extra that the target hub already has. It will be replaced. Tick the box to confirm

Optional extras

These are not moved by default, and each one replaces what the target hub already has. You are asked to confirm before anything is replaced.

Extra What is copied
MQTT bridge The bridge connection of the old hub
ERP connections The ERP connections set up on the old hub
Hub settings OPC client, Modbus latency and multiprocessing settings. The hub's network details, credentials, name and restart schedule are never copied

History and moving back

The History tab lists every transfer: when, between which hubs, what moved and who did it. History is kept permanently.

To reverse a transfer, click Move back on its row. You get the same review screen with the hubs swapped, and Move back only moves things that are still where that transfer left them. Anything you have changed or moved again since is left where it is, and the review tells you so. If the transfer replaced an MQTT bridge or hub settings, they are put back.

A transfer can be moved back once. For a replaced hub, this is how you hand the work back when the new hardware is installed: restart both hubs again afterwards.
