Manufacturing Logbook

The Manufacturing Logbook feature lets you build table-shaped logs — inspection rounds, shift handover sheets, production records, and similar recurring records — and have your shift/production team fill them in on a schedule, with a full Maker → Checker → Approver review workflow.

Getting Started

To open Manufacturing Logbooks, choose "Manufacturing" from the left side menu, then "Logbooks".

You will see the following sections in the sidebar:

  • Dashboard — a summary view across all logbooks.
  • Ongoing — logbook occurrences currently open and waiting to be filled, checked, or approved.
  • Historical — past, completed logbook occurrences.
  • Configuration → Templates — design the table layout and fields a logbook uses.
  • Configuration → Logbooks — schedule a template (daily/monthly/etc.) and assign who fills, checks, and approves it.

Configuring a Template

A template defines the table your team will fill in: a set of column headers, and for each column, a cell type. Open Configuration → Templates and create or edit a template to build this out column by column.

Each cell in the table is one of three kinds:

  • Static — fixed text that's always the same (for example, a section label).
  • Input — a value your team types, selects, or scans in when filling the logbook. See Field Types below.
  • Auto Generate — a value the system fills in automatically. See Auto-Generated Fields below.

Field Types (Input cells)

Field Type What it does
Text Free text entry.
Text from Dropdown Pick one value from a pre-configured list.
Dependent List Pick one value from a list whose options depend on another column's value in the same row.
Check A yes/no checkbox.
Calendar A date picker.
Clock A time picker.
Calendar & Clock A single field that captures both a date and a time in one entry — useful whenever you need a precise point in time (for example, "when did this actually happen") rather than just a date or just a time.
QR Code Scan a QR code with your device's camera to fill the value.
Image to Text Conversion Capture or upload an image and have the text in it extracted automatically.

Auto-Generated Fields

Auto Type What it does
Reference From Sheet (single / multiple keys) Looks up a value from a configured reference sheet, matched by one or more key columns.
Horizontal Single Cell Equation Calculates a number from other columns in the same row (for example, C1 + C2).
Dynamic Horizontal Single Cell Equation Same as above, but the equation used can change depending on the value(s) of other column(s) — useful when the correct formula depends on a selection made earlier in the row.
Date Time Equation Calculates the difference between two dates/times entered elsewhere in the row. See below.
Parameter / Dependent Parameter Pulls a live machine parameter reading.
Fill Time / Submission Time / Creation Time / Current Time Time-stamps, in a format you choose.
Date Delta / Time Delta Today's date, or the current time, shifted forward or back by a configured amount.

When configuring an equation-based field, click a column's chip (C1, C2, …) shown above the equation box to insert a reference to that column — you don't need to type the column reference by hand.

Date Time Equation

Use this to automatically calculate how much time passed between two points entered in the same row — for example, between a "Start" Calendar & Clock field and an "End" Calendar & Clock field.

Enter an equation referencing the two columns, such as C2 - C1 (End minus Start). The result is shown as days, hours, and minutes, for example:

  • 12-09-2026 14:13 to 14-09-2026 16:09 → 2 days 1 hr 56 mins

If the second value is actually earlier than the first, the result is shown as negative, so you can immediately see that the entries are out of order:

  • 11-09-2026 04:06 to 09-09-2026 21:22 → -1 day 6 hrs 44 mins

This works the same way whether the referenced columns are Calendar, Clock, or Calendar & Clock fields, or an auto-generated time stamp.

Configuring a Logbook

Once a template is ready, open Configuration → Logbooks to turn it into a live, recurring logbook: pick the template, set its fill schedule (for example, daily or monthly), and assign who fills it in (Maker), who reviews it (Checker), who gives final sign-off (Approver), and optionally who issues and who inspects it.

Filling, Reviewing & Approving a Logbook

A logbook occurrence moves through up to a Maker → Checker → Approver review chain, depending on how it was configured — the same review pattern used by Checklists:

  • The Maker fills in the logbook's table and submits it.
  • The Checker (if configured) reviews the submission and either accepts or rejects it.
  • The Approver (if configured) reviews it the same way, and can also correct entered values before accepting.

If a logbook is rejected, it is routed back to the maker to be filled again. Completed occurrences move to the Historical section; anything still awaiting a maker, checker, or approver stays under Ongoing.
